About me
Wei-I Lee is a professor in the Department of Electrophysics at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and has served as the director of the Research Center of Higher Educational Resources for Openness (HERO Center). He obtained his B.S. in Electrophysics from National Chiao Tung University, his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Professor Lee is well known for his innovative teaching, including using films to explain physics concepts and breaking traditional classroom boundaries to make science more engaging for students. As a leader in open education, he helped establish the “ewant” MOOC platform, one of the largest Chinese-language online course platforms, promoting open access to high-quality university courses for the wider public. Through the HERO Center, he has advanced the development of open educational resources, cross-university online courses, and international collaborations in digital learning, making significant contributions to Taiwan’s open education ecosystem.
