About me
Dr. Katsusuke Shigeta is a Professor at the Information Initiative Center and Director of the Data-Driven Education Initiative Center at Hokkaido University. He serves as the President of Open Education Japan (OEJ) and was previously a member of the Board of Directors for Open Education Global.His research focuses on designing hybrid learning models and support systems, as well as applying learning analytics to enhance instructional effectiveness and student support. As a leading advocate for Open Education, he is dedicated to improving educational quality and expanding opportunities by promoting Open Educational Resources (OER). His work is driven by a vision of realizing a society where high-quality learning is accessible to all.Beyond his institutional roles, he holds key leadership positions in prominent academic societies, including Board Member of the Japan Society for Educational Technology (JSET) and the Academic eXchange for Information Environment and Strategy (AXIES). Additionally, he chairs the Special Interest Group on Collaboration and Learning Environment (SIG-CLE) at the Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ).Furthermore, he spearheads Digital Transformation (DX) within university organizations, leading the design of next-generation educational environments and establishing strategic frameworks for the institutional use of educational data.
