About me
Richard J. Powers is a professor, instructional designer, and international educator at the University of Stuttgart and City Colleges of Chicago. His work focuses on open education, international collaboration, and project-based learning in global, online environments, alongside Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive digital pedagogy. A strong advocate for open educational practices, he designs and delivers international courses that connect educators and student teachers across borders, often at no cost to participants.Powers is an eTwinning Ambassador for Germany and recipient of the EU eTwinning Initial Teacher Education Award. He is an active member of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) Technology Innovation Network, where he collaborates on advancing accessible and innovative digital learning practices worldwide.His teaching emphasizes intercultural exchange, collaboration, and real-world project design, bringing student teachers and teacher educators from Europe, Africa, and beyond.
