About me
Rebecca J. Allen, PhD, is Assistant Professor and Chair of Computer Science and Mathematics at Mount St. Joseph University. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on artificial intelligence in education, participatory research, and open educational resources that support equitable technology adoption. Trained in educational studies and computational linguistics, she examines how educators and students interpret and integrate emerging technologies such as generative AI into teaching and learning.Dr. Allen leads several initiatives focused on AI literacy and responsible technology use in education, including the AI Café, a university–community program that provides hands-on AI learning and research opportunities for undergraduate students. She has led international collaborations through Erasmus partnerships with Laurea University of Applied Sciences in Finland, supporting project-based learning experiences and student mobility focused on AI and innovation. Her current work focuses on developing open educational resources and collaborative frameworks to help educators navigate generative AI in teaching and learning.
