About me
Michelle Westerdale is a Learning Experience Designer at Washtenaw Community College in Michigan. She partners with faculty to create online courses focused on authentic student experience, current pedagogy, and sustainable course design. She brings together her background as a teacher, project manager, and art director to every collaboration. In addition, she’s worked with the OER committee since 2022 and is a liaison to the Faculty Professional Development Committee that supports faculty learning across modalities. Michelle presents and facilitates workshops on "Designed for Humans, Not Robots: Active Learning Online" with Claire Sparklin. Their work offers practical, faculty-ready strategies that can be adapted to a wide range of courses, disciplines, and modalities. It further emphasizes human-centered course design, faculty partnership, and assessment that invites human thinking.
