About me
María José Barrera Olmedo holds a PhD in Psychology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a Master’s degree in Psychology and Education from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with honors from UNAM. Her academic training has focused on sociocultural approaches to learning, with an emphasis on dialogic inquiry and multiliteracies.She has over ten years of experience in sociocultural research, focusing on dialogic interactions, multiliteracies, and learning in diverse educational contexts. She has collaborated with universities, public institutions, NGOs, and educational publishers, contributing to research, instructional design, and digital learning initiatives. She is co-author of articles published in national and international indexed journals, as well as book chapters on dialogic learning and literacy development.María José currently leads Research and Development Projects at the Open and Distance University Coordination at UNAM. In this role, she designs, implements, and evaluates initiatives aimed at strengthening open and distance higher education. Her work focuses on the development of innovative, accessible, and pedagogically grounded models, as well as the integration of digital environments to support student learning and expand educational opportunities.
