About me
Igor Lesko, PhD, is Co-Executive Director of Open Education Global (https://www.oeglobal.org/), an international nonprofit organizationpromoting and mainstreaming open education worldwide. Originally from Slovakia and based in South Africa since 2003, he has over 16 years of experience working with international organizations on strategies to expand access to knowledge and information.He holds an MA degree Cum Laude in Social Development (University of the Western Cape, South Africa) and an MA degree in DevelopmentManagement (Ruhr University, Germany), and earned his PhD from the Open University of the Netherlands in 2025. His doctoral research examined the role of international organizations in shaping governmental Open Educational Resources (OER) policies (2002–2019), including policymakers’ perceptions of their effectiveness, and developed recommendations for widening access to educational resources andopportunities.
