About me
Donna Mellen is the Executive Director of Academic Technology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where she leads campus initiatives focused on learning platforms, open education, digital accessibility, and partnering with faculty to scale inclusive, learner‑centered teaching practices. As Co‑PI of the CA‑ROTEL initiative, she supports cross‑institutional implementation, faculty development, and the creation of sustainable workflows for openly licensed, AI‑aware learning resources.Donna serves as the UMass Lowell representative to the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education Open & Low‑Cost Educational Resources Advisory Council (OLERAC). At UMass Lowell, she serves on the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Steering Committee and previously served as Tri‑Chair of the AI Task Force. She is also a member of the Promotion and Tenure Team, Student Feedback on Instruction Team, Academic Technology Committee, Digital Accessibility Working Group, and OER Task Force.Prior to her role in the Office of Information Technology, Donna worked in the Faculty Development Center, where she began her career at UMass Lowell in 2008.
