About me
Cristina Moon, Ph.D. is a Professor of Spanish at Chabot College, where she has been a full-time faculty member since 2006. She earned her B.A. in Spanish Literature from University of California, Berkeley and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to joining Chabot, she taught at institutions including UCLA, Scripps College, Western University of Health Sciences, and San José State University.Dr. Moon is a recognized leader in open education and serves as an OER/ZTC Coordinator, World Languages Coordinator, and OER Liaison within California’s statewide Open Educational Resources Initiative. She has played a central role in developing openly licensed Spanish curriculum and assessment systems, including co-authoring Entrada Libre and Tarea Libre, and contributing to large-scale open homework platforms.Raised across Guam, Argentina, and California, Dr. Moon brings a global and multilingual perspective to her teaching and scholarship. She is fluent in Spanish, Korean, and English, and has studied several additional languages. Her work focuses on equitable, culturally responsive language education and the use of open, technology-enabled tools to expand access and improve student success.
