About me
Claire Sparklin is a Communication Faculty member at Washtenaw Community College in Michigan and a former instructional designer whose work centers on AI, instructional design, Open Educational Resources (OER), and authentic student engagement. In addition to her college teaching, she works in educational design and development. She serves as chair of the Online Learning Faculty Committee, is a national course reviewer, and, with Instructional Designer Michelle Westerdale, presents and facilitates workshops on “Designed for Humans, Not Robots: Creating Invitations and Boundaries in College Courses.” Their work offers practical, faculty-ready strategies that can be adapted to a wide range of courses, disciplines, and campus settings. Her teaching emphasizes human-centered course design and professional, resume-worthy student experiences.
