About me
Dr. Brook Batch is an Assistant Professor of Social Computing at Mount St. Joseph University. Her research explores the intersection of technology and education, with a focus on computing education, students’ development of research and writing practices, and the use of generative artificial intelligence in education. Dr. Batch’s work is grounded in participatory pedagogy and participatory action research, emphasizing collaboration, student voice, and approaches that position students as partners in the learning and research process. Through this work, she studies how collaborative and technology-supported learning environments can support student engagement, agency, and deeper understanding of complex concepts. In addition to her research, Dr. Batch develops open educational resources designed to support student engagement with and learning of core computer science concepts. She has also collaborated with fellow teaching faculty on project-based learning initiatives that engage students in developing educational materials related to generative artificial intelligence.
