About me
Benjamin Atchison is a Professor of Mathematics at Framingham State University and is a CA-ROTEL principal investigator. He served as an Assessment Coordinator for the original ROTEL grant (2021-2025). He is a long-time OER adopter and an advocate for the development and adoption of free and affordable resources at Framingham and across higher education. He has adapted existing OER and created an open textbook and other resources for his own teaching.As a member of the Mathematical Association of America, he previously served as Chair of the Subcommittee on Technologies in Mathematics Education (2019-2022), and helped organize and facilitate special sessions on the advancement of OER and on remote instruction and assessment. He enjoys discovering new and innovative apps, platforms, and other technologies that can improve his own teaching, and especially sharing these discoveries with his colleagues.His work focuses on reducing barriers to student success through open pedagogy, shared curricular resources, and evidence-informed teaching. He supports faculty teams in remixing OER and aligning learning activities with career competencies and responsible AI use.
