About me
Brandon Carson is an open education scholar-practitioner whose work sits at the intersection of teaching and learning, educational technology, and higher education change. With more than 17 years of experience in the post-secondary sector, Brandon has supported initiatives related to Open Educational Resources (OER), Open Educational Practices (OEP), and scalable approaches to innovation in teaching and learning. He previously served as Program Manager, Business OER at eCampusOntario, where he collaborated with institutions across Ontario to advance the development, adaptation, and adoption of open resources. Brandon also contributes to the broader open education community through his service on the Board of Directors for the Open Education Conference and as a member of GO-GN and GO-GN Canada. His work has contributed to wider conversations about access, affordability, and equity in higher education. Brandon holds a Master of Arts in Learning and Technology from Royal Roads University and is currently completing a Doctor of Education at Ontario Tech University. His research focuses on how senior academic leaders in Ontario perceive OEP and the institutional conditions that support openness in higher education. He is also part of Open Horizons, a Mitacs research project exploring the landscape of OEP across higher education institutes in Ontario.
